Fished my first session here today, on the specimen pool and have to say I was very pleasantly surprised.
Figured it was probably just a everyday pasty pool to start with so fished accordingly and caught maybe 5 fish between 3 and 5lb, good sport, then had a couple of small tench around 2-3lb mark, and a nice bream as well, nice mix, enjoying myself, then blamo, line starts stripping off the reel at a rate of nots and after a decent fight (only 5lb mainline, 4lb hooklength) a carp that must have been around 16lb graced my net.
Well chuffed, was in A1 condition (some of the smaller fish had bad mouths) perfectly scaled common.
About an hour later another screamer and after I thought I had lost it as it went the other side of the island (not good) ended up with another carp that must have been around 13lb.
Very impressive day, and much better than anticipated, really look forward to going again, this Sunday perhaps
And this time have to remember to take the scales and sling

It is always nice to read catch reports from our members, specially when you have enjoyed your day. For some reason sport at Thornleigh was patchy last year, so far reports have been positive.
Enjoy your return visit.
