Has anyone seen much action on the water of late??
Is the water quite low due to the distinct lack of rain fall over the last month?
Come on boys tell all!!!!

Hi Andy
I have had three blanks over the last few weeks at the Vale, I have not even had a take.
Caught 4 fish on my first visit there 2 doubles and 2 small fish.
I must be doing something wrong, or I am a usless angler,I would appreciate a bit of help about what to do to catch fish at the Vale

Also struggling tbh.
Anyone think the netting that was rumoured to have been done actualy was?
Take a look at this link http://www.britishcarpchamps.co.uk/bcac2009ws/venues/veresham.html
In 2007 championships held there they were hauling them out one after another, now you can fish 48 hours and not have a sniff.
Had maybe 5 fish out total since we took the place over, something a bit "fishy" going on, pardon the pun

Just out of interest (I know everyones super cagey in the club with info) where in the lake are most of the catches being taken?
Close in margin, middle of the lake, or far side?
Just asking as from past reading on the net far side seems to be where most of the fish used to live.
Is this still the case I wonder and those with bait boats and/or good gear can get the distances.
Would be nice to get "some" info and get people catching otherwise I cant see us managing to hold it for long as most people I speak to on the bank cant catch, and alot of carp anglers I know (one little circle has maybe 20 carp anglers who do socials etc etc together) are waiting and watching to see what happens here, no one will commit to a ticket on the water from past reputation and them not seeing anything from me that makes them think otherwise lol.
Did catch that one decent carp, but it was mainly that weight due to spawning, guessing more like a 15 to maybe 18lb on a normal day.
Also speaking to quite a few people on various forums via pms, some say they knew that past bailiff and he says all the good fish were removed over a period of time, not just at the end, any decent fish were going into the netted off bit, and a couple of photos I have seen of nice fish are taken with those nets in the background.
In 2007 when those championships I linked took place people were hauling fish in, nothing big but hauling, then over the years it went more and more downhill, and lots of people failing to catch at all over long periods of time, along with rumours of fish being sold.
Tbh I thought it was all rumour and people speculating, but the more I fish it, and the more I speak to people on the bank, starting to believe it.
Its either that, or as Dav S said, I just suck at fishing all of a sudden, but actualy been going to day ticket waters last few weeks, some that are notoriously very hard, and been catching well.
Either the rumours are true, or I just dont "get" the vale

Was there at 6am this morning, fished until 6pm and managed one small carp around 7 or 8lb.
Didnt see a single carp top all day, and sat right near the water to watch the whole lake, was totaly still.
Thinking I might be going about this place all wrong, I'm fishing it as a big carp venue, spodding, or with bags etc, and thinking it might fish better if I fish it like bradley green.
Pallet waggler etc, think Ive been targeting large fish that just arent there?
Might treat it as a large bradley green next time and see what happens.

Spent another 25 hrs at the vale on 28 july lost a small fish at the net no one else fishing (strange)
I went into Fordys tackle shop in Pershore on the Saturday and asked him what he knew about the Vale what he told me was not what I wanted to hear. The previous tenant had netted the lake 3/4 times before he left and the fish were transfered to a lake in south Cerney
So it looks like we are fishing for what as been left which is not a lot by the look of things

This is similar to what I have been told as well.
Crying shame as the lake itself is awesome, really, really nice, secure location, got everything going for it.
Just seems most of the nice fish are gone.
Noticed the fish I caught is axctualy the same as someone else caught in another picture on here, also spoke to a couple of people who have caught the same fish multiple times.
Very big lake, with very few fish in it
Well I will rephraze that, as there are alot of fish in there, they are just very small.
Not sure if you noticed but when we first took it over the "carpet" peg had tractor tracks reversing down to it, I'm guessing some netting was done here.
But my biggest hunch is that net across the section at the start was used to put all the decent fish in to hold and then that section was netted and the fish removed.
I have seen four pictures now of good sized carp from the last year or so, and everyone of them has those nets in the background.

Guess its back to paying for day tickets, or try some luck at Abbots Salford.
Bit of a bugger waisting the cash on the place though, could have got a syndicate on a lake with fish in it

Who?
Got any pics?
Be very interested to hear details about this. Everyone I speak to on the bank has the exact same reults as myself.
And I am sure there are a few nice fish left in there that were missed during the netting etc.
More details please

Would be nice if these prolific catchers could share some information with the rest of us so everyone can at least have a crack.
As it stands everyone I have spoken to on the bank there cant catch or only catches pastys.
Obviously we are missing something, guessing it may well be you need a boat or top end gear to make the 150 yards + to hit the other side.

22lb 4oz caught from the Vale this year
25lb 5 oz caught from the vale this year
27lb 2oz caught from the vale 07/08/10 weekend this is the biggest of a 17 fish catch for the weekend
All these fish were caught by the Secret Squirrel
This Guy fishes 1 night a week and has never blanked since ABAC took over.
The fish are there you have just got to catch them.
For members to say theres no carp in there must be joking. I haven't fished down there since May due to other commitments but ive never had a blank session down there. The last time I fished I fished a day only session and had a small Carp and a 25lb 8oz.
When I was down in the spring I could see loads of Carp on the surface and head and shouldering but the bigger fish were definately on the far bank. To take all the big carp out of a lake it would have to be drained and it hasn't, the big Carp are more likely to pass the net as they are more crafty. To give a example I helped net a pool the other day Ive been told there were around six carp in there we only got 1 in the net, there were no snags and its a clay bottom bowl with no vegitation at water level.
25lb 8oz

Anyone with eyes and ears can see and hear there are a lot of fish left in the vale, not all 'pasties' either!! I myself have lost 2 good fish at the net aswell as banking the 20's posted previously! If people actually fished it more we would see more 20's or even 30's on here. Gotta b in it 2 win it ehh!!
