ANYONE BEEN FISHING LATELY

Postby Chris Burton » Fri Mar 08, 2013 6:47 pm

Thought i would post something on here as the forum has had little action for a while and i havent been on here for ages. Has anyone been fishing lately or over the winter? How have you been doing weather its been on ABAC waters or other venues. As the weather has been mildish this week i thought i would drag myself out as i havent fished overnight for ages, it looked really good for this weekend hoping that the fish had started to wake up and get some fishing in before the weather turns for the worse again next week.
I get here today to find the last fish that was out was last week, no one has seen any sign of fish which has now filled me full of confidence. So i sit here watching the rain come down staring at 3 motionless rods fishing over a light scattering of 8 pints maggots and a kilo boilies. It looks like its going to be a long 48hrs. (Camping!)

Are you on ASL or another venue Chris?.
We too are itching for a session,The last few months have been all about day trips, mostly pike fishing on various venues but mainly a day ticket stretch of the Avon due to bankside conditions making access difficult.

Im on another venue, havnt fished it much at all due to the weather last year and getting behind with work i think this is my 8th session. I will be down Abbots from mid april for around 6wks till i can start fishing a new place im on.

Nothing has happened so far this session but i moved at dinner time as im 90% sure i saw a fish stick its head out on the opposite side first thing this morning. Fingers crossed.

Well that was an uneventfull session. Didnt see a thing this morning and not so much as a liner. Hopefully back to the lake next weekend for some more punishment.

Winter Fishing

Postby cornbury » Mon Mar 11, 2013 2:19 pm

Hi, have never posted before.

I have fished through the winter on Skilts.
Been catching perch/roach/ bream/all the carp family and only had one blank.
Once you get used to the walk it is a great place to fish and the walk home is downhill !!

Toooooo cold even for me today but looking forward to the spring when it comes.

Well I spent the weekend in front of the telly,so at least you had a chance of catching....youve gotta be in it to win it.

The forums been fairly quiet the last few months so don"t let your first post be your last.

Sorry mate , I only did it because of requests from your fellow anglers to put a stop to the constant snoring followed by grunting and groaning coming from the bivvy , I will bear it in mind next time , my bad

Funny you mention it , I have planned to swap over to the 5lb test spod rod , I'm gonna borrow one of Neils battle tank reels and I wondered if I could borrow a couple of packets of those size 2 barbed wide gape hooks I saw you with , they look the bomb mate ,
