Take nothing but memories, leave nothing but footprints.

I know why don't we all post our pictures on here for the rest of the world to see and then we can start a new topic in 12 months time along the lines of "I keep turning up and have nowhere to fish".
There are reasons that information on abbots is hard to come by , and reasons a lot of the regulars feel no need to publicise everything they catch , something that has been the case for the 10 years I have been in the club , at least!
Of course it's upto individuals to decide if they feel the need to share , but at least consider other anglers efforts to keep this place as it is.
Perhaps attentions should be drawn towards the ducks and the amount of damage they are causing to the banks of the lake , damage that has got worse since the wet weather no thanks to the game keeper continuing to feed the ducks on last 2 pegs.
Effort = reward ..............sometimes!!!!

The ducks were fed on the top pegs again on Thursday, the game keeper is also using the track by the lake.

ASL catches

Postby dougie » Mon Oct 27, 2014 4:57 pm

I am not suggesting we publicise our catches to all and sundry, far rom it!!
However it would be nice to hold a conversation with fellow anglers and club members knowing they are being up front with you.
I too enjoy the peace and quiet that ASL offers and would not want to be fighting for a peg but that dosen't mean we can't be civil and honest amongst our selves, or am I wrong on this as well???

Fishing is supposed to fun not an abject lesson in espionage.
Where is my luncheon meat??

There is a night permit holders only section on the forum that never gets used , and also a private message function , these are better options if you really feel the need to compare your catches rather than post for the world to see.

It may come across to some as being over protective , a bit anal perhaps , but believe me when I say this , a lot of effort has gone into maintaining this lakes untouched feel by past members and present. You have only got to look at lakes such as Dormston to see what happens when the wrong type of anglers get a hold of it , and it's not far from abbots.

All in all I think it warrants a little care to be taken on what should be posted where on here , and spare a thought for your own fishing as well as others perhaps.

Let's be perfectly clear on this, all I have attempted to do is build a picture of the lake, its known contents and any other information I can get so I can make the most of my very precious fishing time.
I am a diligent, careful and experienced angler, fishing for 48 years!!!
I am not intending now or in the future on blabbing what I know or what others tell me or show me to any outsiders as I too enjoy ASL as it is.
What the current band of Carpers have to realise is that new faces will appear on the lake who may or may not be as successful as them but it will / has happened.
Does this happen to all new comers, maybe that's why there are only a handful of regulars.
