Its the cheapest and most safe way of doing it, its how us carpers have been doing it for years, you never really see net dips at a specimen carp water, perhaps it because a lot of carp anglers never get the chance to get there net wet, myself not included of course!!

I know from past years that when they shoot for the ducks they never kill many, you dont really notice a difference. Im not convinced that the fish are affected too much from the duck shit, i think the biggest problem is the enviroment around them, i.e. the banks and all the loose feed that attracts...

On the way to the vale down the A46 bypass i could see they were having a shoot down on the lake, after the ducks i suppose. The water levels are low at some venues , they dont seem to all be suffering with the same problem though , and on the whole the catch rates have not been effected , just look at the Vale , well down on its normal level but still it has fished well. It used to be ok, dont think there is so many in there now, mainly jacks i reckon. Think your best bet is maybe the river rather than the lake.

Very hard, dont know about the roach though, ive seen people struggle to catch anything out of there through winter, myself included.

No two venues are ever the same, some places you fish you can use the carp as marker floats, yet others such as abbots, the carp are more elusive.
