Re: OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL ASTWOOD BANK ANGLING CLUB MEMBERS

The raffle has been drawn by the committee and the prize winner has claimed his prize. As the owner of Wooda Lakes I have today spoken with the winner and booked him and his wife in for their holiday with us here in Devon. Thank you everyone who took part in the raffle to support ABAC. I do not know...

Re: Fishing after dark.

Evening all, It's not me (as I have moved to Devon now), but Pete is spot on that I was often seen driving out well into the dark hours after a summer session for those barbel - never fished a whole night, but always had a night ticket. Maybe others are doing the same, but they should have night per...

Carpincon,
Have a word with Pete or Dave, the bailiffs. They fish the lake a lot. I'm sure they would be happy to meet up on the bank for a chat and a brew.

I stick to the river.

Carpincon, Cann Lane is a small mixed fishery on a farm. It has an old fashioned charm about it, in that it is surrounded by trees and very natural, with penty of features and snags. It is not the easiest of waters and is defintely not a manicured match style pool. The stocking is a bit of an unknow...

I cant help you with the lake, but the river had been fishing reasonably well. Although sometimes I do think I have it to myself - in fact the only company I have had on the river all this season, has been my son! The river is not an easy stretch, but plenty of fish coming out to those who put the e...

Hello Carpincon, You've probably been and found out the answers yourself, seeing as you posted your question months ago. However, if it helps..... Alve 1 - no point specimen fishing it at all. The lake is stuffed with small carp (lots up to 4/5lb and a few up to 10lb) and silvers. If silvers are not...

Cormorants - Changes from September 2014

We have all seen and probably moaned about Cormorants from time to time. The good news is that new controls for managing them came into effect this month. For more info, follow this link to the Angling Trust website where there is an article about these changes. http://www.anglingtrust.net/news.asp?...

Three decent chub on the wag and mag and three more on the blockend and mag, with the surprise barbel muscling in between chub 5 and 6. A nice way to end the season!

No prizes for guessing what colour maggots I was using!

Cann Lane is a great water for a quiet relaxing day. You wont catch a fish a chuck, but with careful feeding you can have a nice bag of roach, the odd bream, wild carp or tench. A proper Crabtree type water.

The lake looks great, particularly where the old platforms have been removed. The waste will be moved shortly.

Thanks for taking the photos Peter and for the tea and cake for the workers! :D
